Integrated shipping and transport logistics company, SeaRoad, officially opened its largest northern Tasmanian facility in Launceston on Wednesday, 26 July.
Following a ribbon cutting ceremony, SeaRoad Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Chas Kelly, formally opened the depot at 9 Connector Park Dr, Kings Meadows, to customers, suppliers, and local media.
The facility spans an impressive 15,800 m2, which includes 5,800 m2 of storage facility - four times larger than the previous Youngtown location.
Mr Kelly says the facility represents a significant investment for SeaRoad and demonstrates its commitment to providing exceptional services to its clients in the region.
“As an Australian, family-owned business, SeaRoad believes in investing in and working together with the communities we serve. Our new Launceston depot not only enhances our operational capabilities, but also creates job opportunities, supporting the region's economic development,”Mr Kelly says.
SeaRoad Co-Founder Terry Morris cut the ribbon alongside Mr Kelly to commemorate the momentous occasion.
“We are thrilled to officially open our largest northern Tasmanian facility right here in Launceston. This marks a significant milestone for SeaRoad as we continue to strengthen our commitment to seamless shipping and logistics services,” Mr Morris says.
SeaRoad has placed a strong emphasis on storage capabilities, enabling streamlined inventory management and timely delivery.
“Positioned just off the Midland Highway, the Kings Meadows depot is strategically located to optimise accessibility and connectivity for our valued customers and suppliers, from whom we’re seeing increased demand,” Mr Morris explains.
SeaRoad has also implemented a high-tech security system for the new facility, including 50 CCTV cameras and an advanced alarm system linked to a local Launceston security patrol supplier.

Mr Kelly says SeaRoad is now well positioned to offer enhanced services, improved security, and storage solutions to its valued customers.
